So what do you think of today’s celebrity designers? Do you think that their styles are relevant? Just because someone like Beyonce or Jennifer Lopez or Gwen Stefani become bigger than life celebrities does it mean that their fashion designs should be taken seriously? Depends on who you ask. Each of these celebrity fashion designers has a different take and a somewhat different audience.
Let’s start with the Beyonce Knowles clothing line, House of Dereon. We love this fashion line. It’s high end couture styled fashion at no nonsense down to earth prices. We can see Beyonce easily wearing the short and sexy dresses in this collection as well as taking it easy and kicking back in one of her stylish active wear sets. The clothes in the Dereon collection and edgy and sophisticated at the same time, which appeal to a wide range of women.
Jennifer Lopez has two different fashion lines, SweetFace and JustSweet. JustSweet is a toned down clothing line for younger women with an edgier style in the clothing. There are some absolutely adorable fun and flirty dresses in the JustSweet clothing collection. On the other hand, Jennifer Lopez’s SweetFace line has a more grown up elegant styling. We consider SweetFace a clothing line a serious fashionista can sink her teeth into. With offerings like the Mini Bondage Dress, the Stripped 3/4 sleeve Sweater Dress with wrapping ties and the Turtleneck Sweater Dress paired with a Cropped Belt Tweed Jacket this is high fashion style.
So how about Sarah Jessica Parker and the Bitten clothing line? Well, we have to say that we like her manifesto “It is every woman’s inalienable right to have a pulled-together stylish, confident wardrobe with money left over to live.” Sounds like an idea whose time has come! However, can you really make any one wardrobe piece of any quality for less than $20? The answer is a resounding no. While buyers seemed happy or the most part with the jeans, IF they could find a pair to fit, they weren’t happy with the construction or fabrics of some of the shirts. The widest criticism seems to be the sizing is all over the place. Some who wear a size 12 jean have to buy a size 16 jean in the Bitten line, someone who wears a size 4 jean had to buy a size 6. There have also been criticisms about buttons popping off and seams unraveling on shirts. We’d say be very aware, you generally do get what you pay for.
Another celebrity with a new fashion line is Daisy Fuentes, although we’re not exactly sure what she’s famous for! The Daisy Fuentes line is being carried by Kohl’s but you can buy some of this line online at the site seenon. Her line of bathing suits has been extremely popular. She offers a mix and match collection that includes bikinis, halter tops, tankinis, sexy short skirts, hipster and bikini bottoms. Mix and match means that every woman should be able to find the perfect fit. Daisy Fuentes also admits to being inspired by high end designers like Prada and Dolce & Gabanna.
