Mazda 6 – Aiming for the Top

According to the latest figures the market for large family saloons is shrinking fast but if you have the right product you can still make money. And the new saloon by Mazda is the right product. Mazda 6 with its elegant looks is straight from the Takeri concept and most economical model returns over 70mpg. This new Mazda 6 is bigger, wider and longer than its predecessor. This means there is more cabin space and that gives plenty of legroom.

If you’re looking for more luggage space then you need to go for the estate which has more boot space. In this new model boot space has been reduced to 489 litres against the old car’s 510 litres. Whichever you choose, the interior is elegant and sophisticated and fine finishing. Mazda 6 is available in three specs; SE, SE-L and Sport. The features included in the entry-level SE are LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloys and fog lamps. The mid-spec SE-L adds 19 inch alloys, front and rear parking sensors and dual-zone climate control. The Sport model has keyless entry, xenon lights and a reversing camera.

This new Mazda 6 is the second product of Mazda’s SkyActiv technology which sheds weight and has a very efficient fuel-saving programe. It is 50kg lighter and far more economical than its predecessor. The 148bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine will be the biggest seller as it has improved aerodynamics and other efficiency improvements. These gains mean that Mazda 6 delivers an incredible 72.4mpg and 104g/km of CO2. Mazda is introducing the (new – E loop) system on the 6 saloon. This fills a capacitor with energy generated when the car is braking or coasting and powers the air-conditioner when the engine’s off. It also saves up to 10 per cent in fuel and comes standard on the SE-L and Sport.

The drive is smooth and refined and there’s lots of power once turbo spins up. There’s more than enough power in the 2.2 litre engine for everyday use. Safety is paramount in the new Mazda 6; it comes with Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) and Smart Braking Support (SBS). Both these supports brake the car automatically, one bringing it to a complete stop at low speeds and the latter slowing it down at high speeds if a crash is imminent. Mazda 6 is not lagging behind its competitors when it comes to technology, it includes radar cruise control and lane departure warning.Mazda 6 has what it takes to be the best.
