For every city there is a selection of luxury hotels and Dublin is no different. What makes Dublin different is that most of those hotels are purpose built or have arrived over the past decade or so and that independent/domestic brand hotels are more prominent. There are many shades of luxury hotels in Dublin and there’s plenty to choose from iconic hotels to new boutique style hotels. Below see some recommendations

BEST CHAIN HOTELS: The Westin, Four Seasons brands are in Dublin. The Westin is right bang in the centre of Dublin and quietly does its thing. It is a hotel that is not high on the radar but reports are good. It has very pleasant public areas, a cool cocktail bar and restaurant. You can expect Westin standard rooms with cozy down beds and choice of pillows. The Four Seasons is on the other hand a little south of city centre and delivers on the Four Seasons service promise.

BEST HOTEL ICON: The Westbury lies off Grafton St and was given a total refurbishment. It is the typical ‘grand old dame’ of 5 stars with afternoon tea. It delivers well on five star service and is in a great location just off the main shopping street. All the main visitor haunts are within a few minutes walk.

BEST BOUTIQUE HOTEL: The Merrion Hotel lies behind a Georgian facade opposite Government Buildings. It has full leisure facilities including swimming pool and spa. It has two restaurants – one of which is much loved Michelin rated restaurant and a quaint cellar bar. Despite its city centre location it is a beautiful tranquil spot with pleasant gardens to the rear and friendly able service.

BEST HIP HOTEL: The Fitzwilliam Hotel is a stylish 5 star overlooking St Stephens Green. It has a super restaurant on site and very hip and stylish rooms. It is a great location – just a hop, skip and a jump to shopping (Grafton St), historic sites (National Gallery/Museum/Trinity and close to a huge selection of pubs and restaurants.
