Everyone wants to live a life of luxury. They want the time and money to do all of the things their hearts desire. Of course not everyone can afford this life. In fact, most cannot. What are some of the things you can do to make your life a little more luxurious you ask? A few ideas include:
1. Hanging out with luxurious people:
Living in the fast lane might mean freebies along the way, but don’t count on it. Wealthy people like to do wealthy things which means that the average cost of your dinners, dresses and vacations just went up. Where you will benefit from hanging out with a certain crowd, is having access to otherwise unobtainable things. Meeting the type of people who could benefit your career, give you free entrance to the hottest clubs, and invite you on the most exclusive holidays and so on. If that’s the type of life you’re after, then you’ll have to start meeting people who are already living it.
2. Choosing designer items carefully:
Nobody really cares whether Prada or Fruit of the Loom made your plain white cotton t-shirt, but they do care who made the ball gown you’re wearing to an exclusive night out. Fashion is one area where a person can be frugal without compromising their style; you just have to be clever about it. Save your money for the big ticket items – shoes, bags, coats and jewellery. And pinch your pence on things no one really notices.
3. Incorporating mirrors and metallics into your home décor:
There are certain subtleties that can really make your home shine. They include, silks, metallics, flocked textures, exquisite wall coverings and of course lots of mirrors. Reflective surfaces brighten a space and give it a certain sparkle that screams ‘luxury’. Mirrors don’t necessarily have to be mounted on your wall; they can be resting on your mantle piece, backsplashed into the tiles of your kitchen or the door on your bathroom armoire.
4. Making your ceilings seem taller:
Tall ceilings are one of the grandest features a home can have. Of course not every home has got them. You could potentially raise the roof of your house and make your ceilings much taller than they are or you could paint them a darker colour than your walls – that will give them a taller look. Some people choose to hang stretch fabric from their ceiling to give it a more dramatic and grandiose effect.
So you see, while living a life of materialistic luxury does cost lots of money, living a life that looks luxurious doesn’t have to.
