On the 28th of January, a big announcement was made to the wrestling universe; Ronda Rousey, multiple UFC winner at Mixed Martial Arts, was going to train to become a professional wrestler.

Whilst this concerned a few fans, there is a lot to be excited about!

While her acting may need to be improved (think how the wrestling universe are quick to judge someone, thanks to their dominance on the mic skills), there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic and in fact, excited to see Ronda Rousey in the main women’s division ring.

Former Mixed Martial Art fighters do well…

Bearing in mind, that being a former Mixed Martial Arts fighter actually means that this will be used as an advantage to Ronda Rousey. She has actual fighting experience.

Her experience will come in use towards actual in-ring performances. Just look at Brock Lesnar. He made the switch, and he hasn’t done too badly out of it either, winning multiple wrestling championships!

Has a huge fanbase!

Just a few short years ago, Ronda Rousey was the biggest draw of Mixed Martial Arts. This wasn’t a fluke, this was by design. She worked hard, and won matches…
a lot!

This means that her existing fan base will be pretty much transferred to the women’s division, where she is expected to bring in the large crowds due to her presence. You’ve been warned.

Could be technically better at certain moves…

Thanks to her Mixed Martial Arts start, it goes without saying that Ronda Rousey could be technically more superior to certain moves than current wrestling stars, as she has actual fight experience. Whilst in some cases, this won’t make too much of a difference (some moves are only done in wrestling and not in Mixed Martial Arts), it will certainly put her at a distinct advantage!

Legacy almost guaranteed to carry on!

This was the one that a lot of people got concerned over…

After a couple of losses, would she bounce back?

Well, as mentioned earlier, Brock Lesnar managed it and so will Ronda Rousey. She is a hard worker (that is a given) but she is also got the technical skill and consistency to pull it off. Meaning only one thing… her legacy will continue!

Ronda Rousey will help draw big crowds, and will ensure that the women’s division will continue to grow. And as the women’s division is going through a transition stage, this may be perfect timing. Expect multiple title championship belts in the not too distant future.
