The 1992 was stacked with talent. They had MJ, in my opinion the greatest player to play, as well as Bird, Drexler, and Magic, who at the time were the three best basketball players. Those players were the full packages, they could do it all, pass, shoot, dribble, and play defense. Along with them they had a defensive powerhouse in Scottie Pippen. That was his reason for being on that team and he proved that he deserved that spot game after game. John Stockton and Magic Johnson were two of the best guards to play the game. Magic revolutionized the game by his flashy play. Magic and Stockton had great court vision and the ability to make plays that seemed impossible. David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, and Karl Malone were the monster big men under the basket. If anyone took it to the hole, you knew that the big men would either block their shot, or foul them so hard that they might have to sit out for a little bit. Christian Laettner and Chris Mullin were great back up players that put in solid minutes for the team and provided fresh legs off the bench.
The 2012 team is full of future hall of famers. The team features ‘Melo, LeBron, Durant, and Kobe, guys who can seemingly do anything on the court, with ease. These four players are unstoppable on offense, and all posses the ability to play defense, although they may not always use it. The team is full of defensive studs; and a lot of the players have earned some type of All-NBA defensive award, with Chandler winning the NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Chris Paul and Deron Williams are the point guards of the team, and are great passing and scoring point guards. Another thing they specialize in is harassing the offense with tough, tight defense, which the FIBA allows more of.
Harden, Westbrook, and Igudala are solid players defensively, that can play both the point and wing positions with no real problem. Tyson Chandler and Kevin Love provide the size underneath. Tyson is a very good defensive player and Kevin can and will find every rebound and get it. Kevin is also an offensive powerhouse. Although Blake Griffin is hurt, Anthony Davis will be taking his spot. Davis is a good PF/C but does not see many minutes due to the lack of experience at the highest level.
