Can the Patriots Make the Super Bowl This Year?

No one really knows what to make of the New England Patriots this year. This team was once a stalwart superpower, as just two seasons ago they finished an undefeated season and made it all the way to the Super Bowl before finally losing. The Patriots dynasty has dominated most of the decade, and Tom Brady is still young enough to play some of the best football of his life. The bigger issue has been that of his health, as a major injury kept him out of commission through all of 2008.

Brady returned to start the 2009 season, and there were many question marks as to which Patriots team we would see in his presence. It was clear that he was a bit rusty and might take some time to return to his previous form, if he did at all.

After nearly losing to the Bills in week one, the Pats lost to the Jets in week 2. This was a game they never would have lost in the past, and this surprised many football fans. They followed up strong with two more wins after this, before losing to the Denver Broncos in Denver.

Their two losses are more than they’d typically give up in the first half of the season, but Tom Brady’s week 6 performance against the Titans has been nothing short of phenomenal. With 5 TDs in the first half against the Titans, the Pats may well be returning to form.

If this is the case, a Super Bowl appearance can’t be out of the question.
