You may find that you can save some of your money on your green slip but more often than not the major companies can offer you additional benefits such as bundled discounts across all of your insurance policies and great entertainment, holiday and motoring group options.
So even though the temptation at registration time is to find the cheapest option available and get it paid and out of the way as soon as possible, making the time early on to really understand your options may just be the kind of investment that really pays off.
